LOVE … because of it

WELCOME, WINTERFEST  TRAVELERS!

Thank you for visiting my fan site!

The image below is a new entry in my poetry and graphics series
Love, Because of It.

(You may have found this image in Vincent’s Chamber.)

The Love, Because of It pages illustrate Vincent and Catherine’s more intimate time together, measured in a romantic (gauzy but not overly graphic) way, accompanied by a favored poem.

More in that series can be found HERE.

I’m always impressed by Maya Angelou’s work, but this poem stunned me – it’s Vincent and Catherine, perfectly so. I hope you’ll enjoy the poet’s words and the image they inspired.

Catherine and Vincent nearly kissing, Catherine's hand on Vincent's heart, on his bare chest

ONLY  LOVE

TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL
by Maya Angelou

We, unaccustomed to courage,
exiles from delight,
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies,
old memories of pleasure,
ancient histories of pain.
Yet, if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity.
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave.
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.
