A Busy Time

New Arts and Crafts Creations

I was this year’s conzine editor, my second year serving as such. The project – the editing and layout – delightfully filled my March/April/May. I hope everyone ordered a copy, because the contributions were spectacular, nearly 400 pages-worth! (If you’re attending the con, you’ll get one in your con tote. Otherwise, the CRLL will have a copy for fans to borrow, but check with Pat – you might still be able to order a special digital version.)

I promised everyone who met the Early-Bird submission deadline – a full two weeks before the official due date – a little gift. And since we were showcasing First-Timers in this publication (those who’ve never before submitted to a conzine), I promised those folks a little something extra.  I think everyone has received their gifts in the mail, so I can post photos of the crafts now.

I found the BatB-themed charms at a craft store quite a while back and bought them with no clear vision of how I might use them. When I decided on the stained glass sun-catcher design, though, I knew what to do.

The journals are made from VHS sleeves, which I found on eBay a few years ago – a whole set, as yet unopened, still in the cellophane wrap! They’re blank-paged inside, but I’m hoping all the first-time submitters will fill them with plot bunnies or sketches and that we’ll see the finished work posted at Tunnel Tales or for WFOL or for another anniversary.

These were fun to work on, and I’m hoping a few new designs pop into mind, maybe for our WFOL Charity Auction or, as slow as I am, for next year’s con charity fundraiser.

Be watching. It’s a secret for now, but after the Chicago con, I’ll be posting photos of another project, one that Sandy and I worked on together. 🙂
