Welcome to
A Day in the Life
a project inspired by conversation in the BBTV discussion group
Have you ever wondered why Jamie carries a crossbow, how Samantha spends her time when she’s not doing schoolwork or delivering Winterfest candles, what Father and Mary might be up to when we’re not looking?
If you would like answers to these questions – and several more – we think you will enjoy “A Day in the Life,” a collection of short stories designed to explore everyday life in the world Below.
Each story is told from a single character’s point of view and opens a window to life in the tunnel community as experienced by them. The characters are familiar but still mysterious, as many were provided little or no backstory. We hope you’ll find their stories intriguing, thought-provoking, and hopefully … inspiring.
We’re considering the continuation of this collection, so, if one of your favorite characters did not have “a day” this time, you might want to write for Part Two. Please watch for the announcement of guidelines and publication date for the upcoming project. We would love to have you join us!
Please know that all feedback will be very much appreciated. You may leave comments on each story or, if you’d prefer, email the author if a link is provided.
Thank you for visiting!

Thanks very much to the amazing writers who contributed stories to this project, to everyone who has read (and I hope enjoyed) them, and especially to Carole for hosting us on her beautiful website and for being a wonderful partner on this project from day one. It has been an honor and a joy to participate and share this experience with all of you.
This project was a lot of fun for me and the stories everyone submitted were really creative and meaningful. These characters have such rich lives now! I think of them all in different lights. Thanks, everyone, for writing.
Thanks, too, to everyone reading. It makes a difference that you do.

Thank you! Thank you! I needed all these wonderful stories to brighten my week.
Thank you, Margaret! We’re all really glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the project!
So looking forward to seeing all the stories, and wallowing in fiction. I can hardly believe it’s been that long since our fave show started. A bit later for me, being down under, but once I saw it, that was it. Still a HUGE fan all these years later. Hope to catch up with y’all next year in Kansas. Much love’n’hugs, Skip
